Let’s be real—finding a cofounder might be even harder than finding your life partner. Two random strangers meeting on a Zoom call isn’t magically going to align on the same goals and dreams.

VCs love to romanticize stories of founders meeting in high school and chasing their dreams together, but not everyone has that privilege.

Gloria Liuand I are building a space with IRL events ONLY where founders can connect with like-minded peers, share their vision and values, and have candid conversations about ambition—all in a safe, structured environment. Whether you’re looking for a cofounder or just want to exchange ideas, this is where real connections begin.

We already have 200 founders on the waitlist. If you want in, COMMENT on this post, and I’ll send you the private signup link.

We don’t let everyone in—we let the dreamers in.

Get back to basics. You are misunderstanding the value prop of AI. It needs to go ZERO to ONE - or, one to ten. Most AI startups right now are going from 1 to 1.25. At best. Most are going 1 to 0.75. Meaning, you’re doing something that is already done (so someone else already went from 0 to 1) and you’re doing it minimally better, or even worse.

Actually - many “AI” founders haven’t read that book and it shows.

Put simply: if your “AI” is going to do the same job worse than a human, then why would I, as a customer, pay to use your product.

Add on the fact that most of these “AI” startups are offering the same or worse service at a HIGHER price than a human? Boggles my mind. The point of AI is either: A) you do it 10x better or B) you do it 10x cheaper.

I just talked to an “AI” tax company, and they finally came back with the quote, and my team and I just about spit out water in laughter. It was 6x the price ofNimbl, our current traditional accounting/tax service, lol. Oh, and that startup was going to take 3 weeks longer to do our taxes. So…who cares if AI did my taxes? I care that my taxes were done right and done fast.

This happened again for an “AI” hiring firm. 3x the cost, and took just as long for the same quality.

Another way of analyzing if a service is worth AI-ing is considering the “value ceiling” on a service.

It would make ZERO sense to have, say, a hibachi grill operated by an robot vs a human. The AI adds no value. The value of a Hibachi dinner is maxed out at “I see performance, I eat, I pay, I leave”. Adding a robot to that equation adds very little value. The only way to add value is to actually reduce the transaction cost to a meaningful amount, say, 10x cheaper for the dinner.

In software, take something like Slack - the value prop is communication. There’s no significant or disruptive value to be added by introducing AI. If someone created an “AI” version of slack, pass.

Yeah. Read the book. The guy who wrote it basically is a grandaddy leader in AI. (Yeah. I know who Peter Thiel is - but apparently these new AI founders don’t.)

AI is a tool. It’s not your value prop - otherwise you’d be OpenAI or Anthropic. THEY sell AI. You don’t. You sell a service. Get it right.…more
